Bird Feeder Update 5

I don’t have many updates this week, as I had to miss class yesterday. Most of the mealworms survived the break, and once the weather clears up, we will try putting them out for the birds.

This week ended up being our fifth week of the bird project because we had two weeks off for spring break. Since getting back, we have gone around and reset all of the feeders that were messed up due to windy weather we were having. This week was mostly a refresh week and our priority was to make sure that all of the feeders were running smoothly. Our reset feeders:

This week, Sydney installed and filled the bird feeders. While we were outside today, filling the bird feeders, we saw a Carolina Wren on one of the feeders, and other students reported a Black-crested X Tufted Titmouse hybrid on the other. I think it’s pretty awesome to see the bird feeders being used. Feeding the mealworms is going well, and it will be interesting to see how they survive spring break.  Very proud of our progress this week!! We hung up the first feeder we made last week and have been filling and maintaining it, along with the bluebird house, in the meantime. We also made an additional feeder that we hung in a different area! All feeders are currently doing well and having to be re-filled, so birds seem to be taking interest! Pictures of the two feeders:
